This is horrifying and gross, because the list includes:
- Cranberry sauce and pie filling. (Poor people can forget about making dessert for Thanksgiving dinner.)
- Creamed vegetables
- Baked beans
- Pickles
- Pork and beans
- Frozen veggies that come in packages featuring pasta, nuts, rice, cheese, or meats
- French fries and hash browns
- Sharp cheddar cheese, Swiss, and fresh mozzarella, shredded and sliced cheeses (except American cheese of course), cheese food, spreads, and products. Even Kosher cheese is banned unless you apply to get a specific check for it which basically could identify who the poor Jewish people are. (This is really gross and skeevy because of how this is isolating Jewish people and outing them.)
- Canned peas and green beans
- Albacore tuna, red salmon, and fish fillets
- Bagels, pita bread, English muffins
- White rice and wild rice
- Taco shells
- Almond, rice, goat, and soy milk.
- Brown eggs and any eggs produced by cage-free or free range chickens, which basically helps corporate chicken farms.
- Several kinds of infant food
- Anything in bulk
- Anything organic or natural
What the fuck are they supposed to eat then
What the fuck?
How do they think anyone is even capable of memorizing this arbitrary-ass list, much less enforce it?
In addition to just shitting on poor people directly, it gives the state an excuse to harass businesses in poor community for not having the POS infrastructure to properly act on their ridiculous goddamn law.
This is such ridiculous, goddamn nonsense. It’s not confirmed yet, but I’m actually a little surprised this actually happened. The USA has ALWAYS been a Dystopia. But now they’re just whipping it out to piss right in poor people’s faces and tell them it’s soda. Cause wtf is going on? What is this bizarre wrongness? They can’t give the poor left-overs and end meat and pig’s feet and bitter vegetables anymore, so they’re going to legislate it??
What are people supposed to eat? When did food itself become a luxury? What about health and allergy issues?
Do they realize what they’re saying, how’ they’re setting up Tier one food. Tier two food? Second class citizenry diet? HOW IT EVEN LOOKS TO THE REST OF THE WORLD?
Do they not care? Is part of not caring because of how much money the US sinks into military spending, no matter how the citizens are actually faring?
Did they just say - How dare the poor have almond milk, eat shell fish, make their own tacos, have the convenience of canned vegetables or prepackaged meals? AND OMG they’re regulating cheese and bagels?
Does it the heck get any more obvious and Oliver Twist of “Eat gruel.” ???!!!
I can’t even touch on how food is cheaper in bulk and just…
This is BEYOND class warfare ok? This is class Armageddon.
ETA: (Cause I looked at the comments) No, this IS about poor people being banned from food. The article is NOT misleading. If you’re on SNAP aka Foodstamps, you’re NOT LIKELY TO HAVE EXTRA MONEY TO BUY WHAT WISCONSIN SNAP refuses to cover. Because that money goes to non-food items, like sanitary napkins, toothpaste, toilet paper, underwear, transportation costs etc… And they’re putting HERBS on this list, as in seasonings, as in things to improve the taste of the cheapest food a person can already buy. I am blocking any fool I see in comments on ‘they can use their own money to buy this stuff’. What money where? What magical money in their food budget?
This is essentially a poor tax on taste pleasure. And it SHOULDN’T pass and people SHOULD be informed and get angry about it.
